What about Legionella?
Using the disinfection routine as specified by the Hospital Research Laboratory, there is no need for concern. The unique design of TEAL units means that means that:-
(1) There is NO stored warm water in which microrganisms can breed. When activated by the Blusensor, the cold water in the copper heater tank is heated instantaneously.
(2) The low pressure spray means that there is NO fine water droplets that could be breathed in.
(3) With a 5 minute disinfection procedure every other day there is no possibility of any water born micro-organisms being retained to cause infection.
and (4) there are NO taps the reinfect clean hands!
So, and unlike conventional plumbed-in hand wash basins, with TEAL hand wash units, there are NO need for concerns regarding water bourne infections such as Legionella.
Are TEAL units environmentally friendly?
Yes - very. The unique control of low pressure water delivery system intrinsic in the Hygienius®, Hygienius Prowash and the BigSynk for example, means that they use less than one quarter of the water needed for a ten second wash by any other conventional ‘plumbed in’ system.
The instantaneous heater too is incredibly energy efficient. As the water is only heated as required and then only to the optimum hand washing temperature of 40/45’C, very little heat energy is used.
A conservative estimate for the energy used in a ten second wash is less a sixth of that needed for any other type of hot wash.
How do I plumb in a TEAL hot water hand wash unit?
There's no need to! Every TEAL medical wash unit is fully portable and needs no plumbing. All units separately contain the clean water whilst they hygienically retain the waste water for later disposal.
How do I disinfect my TEALtainer™?
There is a simple routine developed by the Hospital Infection Research Laboratory, City Hospital, Dudley Road, Birmingham B18 7QH.
It involves the emptying to waste the TEALtainer and refilling the fresh water bag with a 500ppm chlorine solution. By means of the purge button located on the under side of the power box behind the lift up display panel, the disinfectant solution can be run through the water system for a period of 5 minutes. The TEALtainer can then be emptied and fresh water used to flush out any remaining disinfectant.
It is suggested that if this procedure is carried out every other day it "is sufficient to maintain a negligible level of contamination".
Are there any taps to keep clean?
At last - NO TAPS! NO push buttons, No Twist Taps and NO Lever Taps to re-infect !
Taps are now obsolete!
So there are NO taps to recontaminate your clean hands.
You never need to touch the unique TEAL spray Head.
Placing your hands in the bowl starts the unique TEAL washing sequence culminating in the delightful hot rinse. There is nothing to adjust - just the same luxurious hot water wash time after time.
